Here is a list of terms you might see in Scavengers and what they mean.
Blitz - If any of the top three finishers of an official hunt do so within 1 minute of the hunt's starting, they will earn 10 extra BLITZ points!
Character of the Day/CotD - A character who only appears in one specific episode of the anime and is unimportant outside of that episode.
Legendary Pokemon - This term is used to describe most of the box cover Pokemon, as well as event-only species. Specifically, these include the following Pokemon: Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mewtwo, Mew, Entei, Raikou, Suicune, Ho-oh, Lugia, Celebi, Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza, Latias, Latios, Regirock, Regice, Registeel, Jirachi, Deoxys, Mesprit, Uxie, Azelf, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Arceus, Cresselia, Darkrai, Heatran, Regigigas, Shaymin, Manaphy, Phione, Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion, Tornadus, Thundurus, Landorus, Zekrom, Reshiram, Kyurem, Victini, Meloetta, Genesect, Keldeo, Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde, Hoopa, Volcanion, Diancie, Type: Null, Silvally, Tapu Koko, Tapu Lele, Tapu Bulu, Tapu Fini, Cosmog, Cosmoem, Solgaleo, Lunala, Necrozma, Magearna, Marshadow, Zeraora, Meltan, Melmetal, Zacian, Zamazenta, Eternatus, Kubfu, Urshifu, Zarude, Regieleki, Regidrago, Glastrier, Spectrier, Calyrex, Enamorus, Koraidon, Miraidon, Chien-Pao, Chi-Yu, Ting-Lu, Wo-Chien, Okidogi, Munkidori, Fezandipiti, Ogerpon, Terapagos, and Pecharunt.
Mini-official - An easier version of an official that is hosted completely impromptu. Most twists do not apply to them and they do not have blitz periods.
Mythical Pokemon - A subcategory of Legendary Pokemon, typically only obtainable from events. Specifically, these include the following Pokemon - Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Deoxys, Manaphy, Phione, Darkrai, Shaymin, Arceus, Victini, Keldeo, Meloetta, Genesect, Diancie, Hoopa, Volcanion, Magearna, Marshadow, Zeraora, Meltan, Melmetal, Zarude, and Pecharunt.
Official hunt - A special hunt reserved ahead of time by the Scavengers roomauth. You can watch out for officials in the Official Smogon thread or by checking /roomevents (both linked in the roomintro).
Puzzle types - There are several types of puzzles that are frequently used in hunts, including anagrams, circleports, parameters, ports, psywaves, and RDEs. For an explanation of each one, check the How To Play and Making Hunts pages.
Queue - When someone makes a new hunt, staff will add it to the queue and set a timer for the current hunt to end. You can check for how many hunts are in the queue and even see the full version of a hunt that you submitted by using "/scav queue" or "/scav viewqueue".
Special styles hunts - Occasionally, Scavengers roomauth will host a special official hunt with different rules and formats than normal hunts. These include Incognito Style, Jumpstart, KO Games, Odyssey, Point Rally, and Scavenger Games. For an explanation of each one, check the How to Play page.
Signature - This term refers to abilities/moves/type combinations that only belong to a single family of Pokemon. For example, the ability Pure Power is signature to members of the Meditite family.
Twist - Each month, Scavengers staff decide on a twist that will apply to officials made during that month. These twists last for both cycles within any given month. You can see this month's twist by using "/rfaq twist".
Unique - This term refers to abilities/moves/type combinations that only belong to a single Pokemon (as opposed to signature referring to a whole family). This typically includes forms of the same Pokemon. For example, Diggersby, Altaria-Mega, and Tyranitar are all uniquely typed.
